अरे नीच वानर, अब तू मरना चाहता है! छोटे मुँह से बड़ी बातें कहता है।

You base monkey, you now wish to die! You speak grand words from a little mouth.

हे मूर्ख वानर, जिसके बल के भरोसे तू कटु बातें बकता है, उसमें न बल है, न प्रताप, न बुद्धि, न तेज।

Foolish monkey, the one whose strength emboldens your bitter talk has neither strength, nor might, nor wisdom, nor splendor.

उसे गुणहीन और सम्मानहीन जानकर उसके पिता ने उसे वनवास दिया।

Considering him devoid of virtues and honor, his father sent him into forest exile.

वह वनवास का दुःख, फिर युवती पत्नी का विरह, और उसके ऊपर रात-दिन मेरा भय उसे सताता है।

He suffers that grief of exile, separation from his young wife, and, besides, fear of me night and day.

जिनके बल का तुझे गर्व है, ऐसे अनेक मनुष्य—

Many humans like those whose strength you take pride in—

राक्षस दिन-रात ऐसे अनेक मनुष्यों को खाते हैं। हे मूर्ख, अपनी हठ छोड़कर समझ ले।

Demons eat many such humans day and night. Fool, abandon your obstinacy and understand.
