इस प्रकार वे पूरे माघ महीने स्नान करते हैं; फिर सब अपने-अपने आश्रमों को जाते हैं।

In this way they bathe throughout the month of Magha; then all return to their respective hermitages.

हर वर्ष बहुत आनंद होता है; मकर-स्नान करके मुनियों का समूह प्रस्थान करता है।

Every year there is great joy; after bathing during the Makara period, the company of sages departs.

एक बार पूरे मकर-स्नान काल में स्नान करने के बाद सभी श्रेष्ठ मुनि अपने आश्रमों को चले गए।

On one occasion, after bathing throughout the Makara bathing period, all the eminent sages left for their hermitages.

अत्यंत विवेकशील याज्ञवल्क्य मुनि को भरद्वाज ने उनके चरण पकड़कर रोक लिया।

Bharadvaja held the feet of the deeply discerning sage Yajnavalkya and persuaded him to stay.

भरद्वाज ने आदरपूर्वक उनके कमल जैसे चरण धोए और उन्हें अत्यंत पवित्र आसन पर बैठाया।

Bharadvaja respectfully washed his lotus-like feet and seated him on a very sacred seat.

पूजा करके और मुनि के सुयश का बखान करके भरद्वाज अत्यंत पवित्र और कोमल वाणी में बोले।

After offering worship and praising the sage's noble renown, Bharadvaja spoke in very pure and gentle words.
