अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.82

यदि दोनों धीर भाई न लौटें—रघुनाथ सत्यप्रतिज्ञ और दृढ़व्रती हैं।

If the two steadfast brothers do not return—Rama is true to his word and firm in his vow.

तो तुम हाथ जोड़कर विनती करना: ‘हे प्रभु, मिथिला-नरेश की पुत्री सीता को लौटा दीजिए।’

Then plead with folded hands: ‘Lord, please send back Sita, the daughter of Mithila’s king.’

जब सीता वन देखकर डरें, तब अवसर पाकर मेरी सीख उनसे कहना।

When Sita becomes frightened on seeing the forest, find an opportunity to convey my counsel to her.

‘सास और ससुर ने यह संदेश कहा है: बेटी, लौट आओ; वन में बहुत कष्ट हैं।’

‘Your mother-in-law and father-in-law have sent this message: Daughter, please return; the forest holds much hardship.’

‘कभी पिता के घर और कभी ससुराल में रहना; जहाँ तुम्हारी इच्छा हो, वहीं रहना।’

‘Stay sometimes at your father’s home and sometimes at your in-laws’ home—wherever you wish.’

इस प्रकार अनेक उपाय करना। यदि सीता लौट आएँ, तो मेरे प्राणों को सहारा मिले।

Try many means in this way. If Sita returns, she will be a support to my life.
