राम का रुख जानकर रानी कैकेयी प्रसन्न हुई और कपटपूर्ण स्नेह दिखाते हुए बोली।

Queen Kaikeyi rejoiced on learning Rama’s disposition and spoke, displaying feigned affection.

तुम्हारी शपथ और भरत की सौगंध है, मैं कोई दूसरा कारण नहीं जानती।

I swear by you and by Bharata: I know of no other cause.

हे पुत्र, तुम अपराध करने योग्य नहीं हो; तुम माता, पिता और बंधुओं को सुख देने वाले हो।

Dear son, you are not capable of wrongdoing; you bring happiness to your mother, father, and relatives.

हे राम, तुम जो कुछ कहते हो, वह सब सत्य है; तुम पिता और माता के वचनों के पालन में तत्पर हो।

Rama, everything you say is true; you are devoted to obeying your father’s and mother’s words.

मैं तुम पर बलिहारी हूँ; पिता को समझाकर वही कहो जिससे बुढ़ापे में उनका अपयश न हो।

I am devoted to you; reason with your father and say what will prevent disgrace to him in his old age.

जिस पुण्य ने तुम्हारे समान पुत्र दिए हैं, उसका निरादर करना उचित नहीं है।

It is not right to slight the merit that has bestowed sons like you.
