अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.207

यह भी कहते हुए कोई तुम्हें बुरा नहीं, भला ही कहेगा; लोक और वेद दोनों विद्वानों को मान्य हैं।

Even in saying this, no one will judge you unfavorably; both worldly custom and the Vedas are acknowledged by the wise.

हे तात, तुम्हारा निर्मल यश गाकर लोक और वेद भी बड़ाई पाएँगे।

Dear son, even the world and the Vedas will gain honor by singing your spotless glory.

सब लोक और वेद से मान्य यही बात कहते हैं कि पिता जिसे राज्य दे, वही उसे पाए।

Everyone states this principle, sanctioned by worldly custom and the Vedas: whoever is given the kingdom by his father receives it.

सत्यव्रती राजा दशरथ तुम्हें बुलाकर राज्य, सुख, धर्म और बड़ाई दे रहे थे।

King Dasharatha, steadfast in truth, was summoning you to bestow the kingdom, happiness, righteousness, and honor upon you.

राम का वन जाना अनर्थ का मूल बना; उसे सुनकर सारे संसार को पीड़ा हुई।

Rama’s departure for the forest became the root of calamity; hearing of it brought anguish to the whole world.

वह घटना होनहार के वश हुई; नासमझ रानी कैकेयी कुचाल चलकर अंत में पछताईं।

That happened under the sway of destiny; the unwise queen Kaikeyi regretted her scheming in the end.
