समाचार सुनते ही तट पर रहने वाले स्त्री-पुरुष अपने-अपने काम भूलकर दौड़ पड़े।

Hearing the news, the men and women living along the riverbank left their respective tasks and rushed over.

लक्ष्मण, राम और सीता की सुंदरता देखकर वे अपने भाग्य की सराहना करते हैं।

Seeing the beauty of Lakshmana, Rama, and Sita, they praise their own good fortune.

उनके मन में बहुत लालसा है, पर वे नाम और गाँव पूछने में संकोच करते हैं।

Great eagerness fills their hearts, but they hesitate to ask the visitors' names and home village.

उनमें जो आयु में बड़े और समझदार थे, उन्होंने विचार करके राम को पहचान लिया।

Those among them who were elderly and discerning recognized Rama through reasoning.

उन्होंने सबको पूरी कथा सुनाई कि पिता की आज्ञा पाकर राम वन को चले हैं।

They told everyone the whole story: Rama had set out for the forest upon receiving his father's command.

सुनकर सब दुखी होकर पछताते हैं और कहते हैं कि रानी और राजा ने अच्छा नहीं किया।

Hearing this, everyone grieves and laments, saying that the queen and king have not acted well.
