उत्तरकाण्ड 7.85

“ऐसा ही हो” कहकर रघुकुल के नायक श्रीराम अत्यंत सुख देने वाले वचन बोले।

Saying, “So be it,” Rama, the leader of Raghu’s lineage, spoke words that brought supreme joy.

सुनो, हे काकभुशुंडि! तुम स्वभाव से ही बुद्धिमान हो; ऐसा वरदान क्यों न माँगते?

Listen, O crow, Kakabhushundi! You are naturally wise; why would you not ask for such a boon?

तुमने सब सुखों की खान भक्ति माँगी है; संसार में तुम्हारे समान कोई बड़ा भाग्यशाली नहीं है।

You have asked for devotion, the source of all happiness; no one in the world is as fortunate as you.

वह भक्ति मुनि करोड़ों यत्न करके भी नहीं पाते, यद्यपि वे जप और योग की अग्नि में अपना शरीर तपाते हैं।

That devotion eludes sages despite countless efforts, even though they burn their bodies in the fire of recitation and yogic practice.

तुम्हारी चतुराई देखकर मैं प्रसन्न हुआ; तुमने भक्ति माँगी, यह मुझे अत्यंत अच्छा लगा।

Seeing your discernment, I was delighted; your asking for devotion pleased me greatly.

सुनो, हे पक्षी! अब मेरी कृपा से सभी शुभ गुण तुम्हारे हृदय में बसेंगे।

Listen, O bird! Now, through my grace, all good qualities will dwell in your heart.
