जीव के हृदय में मोह का घना अँधेरा है। गाँठ कैसे छूटे, जब वह दिखाई ही नहीं पड़ती?

Dense darkness of delusion fills the soul's heart. How can the knot loosen when it cannot even be seen?

जब ईश्वर ऐसा संयोग बनाते हैं, तब भी वह गाँठ कभी-कभार ही सुलझती है।

When God brings about such circumstances, even then that knot is unraveled only on rare occasions.

यदि हरि की कृपा से सात्त्विक श्रद्धारूपी सुंदर गाय हृदय में आकर बस जाए।

If, through Hari's grace, the lovely cow of pure faith comes to dwell in the heart.

जप, तप, व्रत, यम, नियम तथा वेदों द्वारा बताए गए असंख्य शुभ धार्मिक आचरण।

Repetition of sacred words, austerity, vows, restraints, observances, and the countless wholesome religious practices taught by the Vedas.

जब श्रद्धारूपी गाय उन्हीं आचरणों की हरी घास चरती है और भाव रूपी छोटे बछड़े को पाती है, तो दूध उतारती है।

When the cow of faith grazes on those practices as green grass and receives the young calf of heartfelt devotion, her milk flows.

निवृत्ति गाय के पैर बाँधने की रस्सी है, विश्वास दूध का पात्र है, और निर्मल मन अपना सेवक ग्वाला है।

Withdrawal from worldly pursuits is the cow's milking tether, trust is the vessel, and the pure mind is one's servant cowherd.
