उत्तरकाण्ड 7.117

हे भाई, परम धर्ममय दूध दुहकर, निष्कामता की आग बनाकर उसे उबालता है।

Dear brother, having milked the supreme milk of righteousness, one boils it over a fire made of desirelessness.

फिर संतोष की हवा और क्षमा से उसे ठंडा करता है, तथा धैर्य और शम का जामन देकर जमाता है।

Then one cools it with the breeze of contentment and forgiveness, and sets it with the curd-starter of fortitude and inner tranquility.

प्रसन्नता से विचार की मथानी द्वारा मथता है; इंद्रियसंयम उसका आधार और सत्यपूर्ण सुंदर वाणी उसकी रस्सी है।

With joy one churns using reflection as the churn-stick; sense-restraint is its support, and truthful, wholesome speech its rope.

फिर मथकर निर्मल, सुंदर और अत्यंत पवित्र वैराग्यरूपी मक्खन निकाल लेता है।

Then, by churning, one extracts the butter of stainless, beautiful, supremely pure dispassion.

तब योग की अग्नि प्रकट करके उसमें शुभ और अशुभ कर्म लगाता है।

Then one kindles the fire of yoga and feeds good and bad deeds into it.

बुद्धि ज्ञानरूपी घी को ठंडा करती है; ममता का मैल जल जाता है।

The intellect cools the clarified butter of knowledge; the impurity of possessive attachment burns away.

तब अनुभूत ज्ञानरूपिणी बुद्धि उस निर्मल घी को पाकर।

Then the intellect, embodying realized knowledge, obtains that pure clarified butter.

चित्तरूपी दीपक को उससे भरकर, दृढ़ समता की दीवट बनाकर उस पर रखती है।

It fills the lamp of the mind with it and places it on a lampstand made of firm equanimity.

तीन अवस्थाओं और तीन गुणों रूपी उस कपास से रूई निकालकर।

From that cotton of the three states and the three qualities, it extracts the fiber.

फिर तुरीय अवस्था रूपी रूई सँवारकर उसकी सुगठित बाती बनाती है।

Then it prepares the fiber of the fourth state and makes a firmly formed wick from it.

इस प्रकार अनुभूत ज्ञानमय, तेज की राशि उस दीपक को जलाती है।

In this way it lights the lamp of realized knowledge, an abundance of radiance.

जिसके पास जाते ही मद आदि सभी पतंगे जल जाते हैं।

As soon as they approach it, all the moths of pride and other such faults burn away.
