लङ्काकाण्ड 6.36

हे पति, अब झूठी डींगें मत हाँको। मेरी कही बात पर हृदय में कुछ विचार करो।

Husband, stop making empty boasts now. Give some heartfelt thought to what I have said.

हे पति, रघुनाथ को केवल मनुष्य-राजा मत समझो। उन्हें चर-अचर का स्वामी और अतुलनीय बल वाला जानो।

Husband, do not regard Rama as merely a human king. Know him as the lord of all that moves and stands still, possessing incomparable strength.

मारीच राम के बाण का प्रताप जानता था। हे नीच, तुमने उसकी कही बात नहीं मानी।

Maricha knew the might of Rama’s arrow. Wretch, you did not heed his words.

जनक की सभा में अनगिनत राजा थे; तुम भी अपने अतुलनीय, विशाल बल के साथ वहाँ उपस्थित थे।

Countless kings were in Janaka’s assembly; you too were present with your immense, supposedly incomparable strength.

राम ने धनुष तोड़कर जानकी से विवाह किया। तब तुमने उन्हें युद्ध में क्यों नहीं जीता?

Rama broke the bow and married Janaki. Why did you not defeat him in battle then?

इंद्र का पुत्र राम के बल का थोड़ा परिचय जानता है; राम ने उसकी आँख फोड़कर उसे जीवित छोड़ दिया था।

Indra’s son knows something of Rama’s strength: Rama struck out his eye but spared his life.
