पत्र सुनकर दोनों भाई भरत और शत्रुघ्न पुलकित हो उठे; उनका अपार प्रेम शरीर में समा नहीं रहा था।

Hearing the letter, both brothers, Bharata and Shatrughna, thrilled with joy; their immense love could scarcely be contained in their bodies.

भरत का पवित्र प्रेम देखकर सारी सभा ने विशेष सुख पाया।

Seeing Bharata’s pure love, the entire assembly experienced exceptional joy.

तब राजा दशरथ ने दूतों को अपने पास बैठाया और मधुर, मन को भाने वाले वचन कहे।

Then King Dasharatha seated the messengers near him and spoke sweet, pleasing words.

भाइयो, दोनों बालकों की कुशल बताओ। क्या तुमने उन्हें अपनी आँखों से भली-भाँति देखा है?

Brothers, tell me of the two boys’ welfare. Have you seen them clearly with your own eyes?

एक साँवले और दूसरे गोरे हैं; धनुष और तरकश धारण किए, किशोर अवस्था में, कौशिक मुनि विश्वामित्र के साथ हैं।

One is dark-complexioned and the other fair; they carry bows and quivers, are adolescent in age, and are with the sage Vishvamitra of the Kushika lineage.

क्या तुम उन्हें पहचानते हो? उनका स्वभाव बताओ। प्रेम से विवश राजा बार-बार कहते हैं।
