दूत राम की पवित्र नगरी अयोध्या पहुँचे और सुंदर नगर देखकर प्रसन्न हुए।

The messengers reached Ayodhya, Rama’s sacred city, and rejoiced to see its beauty.

उन्होंने राजा के द्वार पर अपने आने की खबर दी। राजा दशरथ ने सुनकर उन्हें बुलवा लिया।

They announced their arrival at the king’s gate. Hearing this, King Dasharatha summoned them.

प्रणाम करके दूतों ने पत्र दिया। प्रसन्न राजा ने स्वयं उठकर उसे लिया।

After bowing, the messengers presented the letter. The delighted king rose and received it himself.

पत्र की पंक्तियाँ पढ़ते समय राजा की आँखों में आँसू आ गए, शरीर रोमांचित हो गया और छाती भावावेग से भर आई।

As the king read the lines, tears filled his eyes, his body thrilled, and his breast swelled with emotion.

हृदय में राम और लक्ष्मण थे और हाथ में उत्तम पत्र; राजा ऐसे भाव-विह्वल रह गए कि कोई खट्टी या मीठी बात भी न कह सके।

With Rama and Lakshmana in his heart and the fine letter in his hand, the king remained overwhelmed, unable to utter anything, bitter or sweet.

फिर धैर्य धारण करके राजा ने पत्र पढ़ा। सच्चा समाचार सुनकर सभा प्रसन्न हुई।

Then, regaining composure, the king read the letter. The assembly rejoiced on hearing the true news.
