फिर राम वहाँ कुछ दिन रहे और ब्राह्मणों पर दया की।

Rama then stayed there for a few days and showed kindness to the brahmins.

भक्ति के कारण मुनि ने पुराणों की अनेक कथाएँ सुनाईं, यद्यपि प्रभु उन्हें जानते थे।

Out of devotion, the sage recounted many stories from the Puranas, although the Lord already knew them.

तब मुनि ने आदरपूर्वक समझाकर कहा, ‘प्रभु, चलकर एक आयोजन देखिए।’

Then the sage respectfully explained, ‘Lord, let us go and see an event.’

धनुषयज्ञ के विषय में सुनकर रघुकुल के स्वामी राम प्रसन्न होकर श्रेष्ठ मुनि के साथ चले। यहाँ ‘मुनि’ का पाठ संदिग्ध है; ‘सुनि’ होने पर यह अर्थ स्पष्ट होता है।

Hearing of the bow ceremony, Rama, lord of Raghu’s lineage, joyfully set out with the eminent sage. Here ‘मुनि’ is uncertain; the reading ‘सुनि’ would make this sense clear.

मार्ग में एक आश्रम दिखाई दिया; वहाँ कोई पक्षी, पशु या अन्य जीव-जंतु नहीं थे।

An hermitage appeared along the way; there were no birds, beasts, or other living creatures there.

प्रभु ने शिला देखकर मुनि से पूछा; मुनि ने पूरी कथा विस्तार से कही।

Seeing a stone, the Lord asked the sage about it; the sage related the whole story in detail.

गौतम की पत्नी अहल्या शाप के वश पत्थर की देह धारण किए धैर्यपूर्वक आपके चरणकमलों की धूल चाहती हैं।

Gautama’s wife Ahalya, bearing a stone body under a curse, patiently longs for the dust of your lotus feet.

वे आपके चरणकमलों की धूल चाहती हैं; हे रघुवीर, उन पर कृपा कीजिए।

She longs for the dust of your lotus feet; O Rama, hero of Raghu’s lineage, show her grace.
