बालकाण्ड 1.129

हे मुनि, सुनो! मोह उसी के मन में होता है जिसके हृदय में ज्ञान और वैराग्य नहीं हैं।

Listen, sage: delusion arises in the mind of one whose heart lacks knowledge and detachment.

तुम ब्रह्मचर्य-व्रत में तत्पर और स्थिर बुद्धि वाले हो; क्या कामदेव तुम्हें पीड़ा दे सकता है?

You are devoted to the vow of celibacy and steadfast in understanding; could the god of desire afflict you?

नारद ने अभिमान सहित कहा, ‘हे भगवान, यह सब आपकी कृपा है।’

Narada said with pride, “Lord, all this is your grace.”

करुणानिधान भगवान ने मन में विचारकर देखा कि नारद के हृदय में गर्व का विशाल वृक्ष अंकुरित हो गया है।

The compassionate Lord reflected and saw that a mighty tree of pride had sprouted in Narada’s heart.

‘मैं उसे शीघ्र ही उखाड़ फेंकूँगा; मेरा प्रण सेवकों का हित करना है।’

“I will soon uproot and cast it away; my pledge is to benefit my servants.”

‘जिस उपाय से मुनि का हित हो और मेरा कौतुक भी हो, मैं अवश्य वही उपाय करूँगा।’

“I will certainly adopt that means which benefits the sage and also affords me playful delight.”
