हिमालय में एक अत्यंत पवित्र गुफा थी। उसके पास सुंदर गंगा बहती थी।

In the Himalayas there was a very sacred cave, with the lovely Ganges flowing nearby.

वह आश्रम अत्यंत पवित्र और सुंदर था; उसे देखकर देवर्षि नारद के मन को बहुत अच्छा लगा।

The hermitage was very holy and beautiful; seeing it greatly pleased the divine sage Narada.

पर्वत, नदी और वन के विस्तार को देखकर नारद के मन में लक्ष्मीपति विष्णु के चरणों के प्रति प्रेम जाग उठा।

Seeing the mountain, river, and woodland landscape, Narada felt love arise for the feet of Vishnu, Lakshmi’s consort.

हरि का स्मरण करते हुए नारद की शापजनित भटकने की गति रुक गई; उनका स्वभावतः निर्मल मन समाधि में लग गया।

As Narada remembered Hari, the wandering imposed by a curse was checked; his naturally pure mind entered meditative absorption.

मुनि की यह अवस्था देखकर देवराज इंद्र डर गए। उन्होंने कामदेव को बुलाकर उसका सम्मान किया।

Seeing the sage’s state, Indra, king of the gods, became afraid. He summoned the god of desire and honored him.

इंद्र ने कहा, ‘अपने सहायकों सहित मेरे लिए जाओ।’ मकरध्वज कामदेव चकित हुए और मन में प्रसन्न हुए।

Indra said, ‘Go with your helpers on my behalf.’ The god of desire, whose banner bears an aquatic creature, was surprised and inwardly delighted.
