यद्यपि स्त्री इस ज्ञान की अधिकारिणी नहीं मानी जाती, फिर भी मैं मन, कर्म और वचन से आपकी दासी हूँ।

Although a woman is not considered eligible for this knowledge, I am your servant in thought, deed, and speech.

साधु जहाँ व्याकुल और योग्य जिज्ञासु पाते हैं, वहाँ गूढ़ तत्त्व भी नहीं छिपाते।

Where holy people find a distressed yet eligible seeker, they do not conceal even profound truth.

हे देवों के स्वामी, मैं बड़ी उत्कंठा से पूछती हूँ; कृपा करके राम की कथा कहिए।

Lord of the gods, I ask with intense longing; kindly tell me the story of Rama.

पहले विचार करके वह कारण बताइए कि निर्गुण ब्रह्म ने सगुण शरीर क्यों धारण किया।

First, explain thoughtfully why the attributeless Absolute assumed an embodied form with attributes.

फिर, हे प्रभु, राम के अवतार का वर्णन कीजिए और फिर उनके श्रेष्ठ बालचरित कहिए।

Then, my lord, describe Rama’s incarnation, and then recount his noble childhood deeds.

बताइए कि राम ने जानकी से कैसे विवाह किया और किस दोष अथवा कारण से राज्य त्याग दिया।

Tell how Rama married Janaki, and what fault or cause led him to relinquish the kingdom.
