अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.94

हे मित्र, ऐसा समझकर मोह छोड़ दो और सीता तथा राम के चरणों में अनुरक्त हो जाओ।

Friend, understanding this, give up attachment and become devoted to the feet of Sita and Rama.

राम के गुणों का वर्णन करते-करते भोर हो गई; जगत के मंगलकारी और सुखदाता राम जाग उठे।

As Rama’s virtues were being recounted, dawn came; Rama, the source of auspiciousness and happiness for the world, awoke.

सभी शौचादि नित्यकर्म करके राम ने स्नान किया। पवित्र और सुजान राम ने बरगद का दूधिया रस मँगवाया।

After completing all morning cleansing duties, Rama bathed. Pure and discerning, he had the banyan’s milky sap brought.

राम ने छोटे भाई लक्ष्मण सहित सिर पर जटाएँ बनाईं। यह देखकर सुमंत्र की आँखों में आँसू भर आए।

Rama and his younger brother Lakshmana arranged their hair into matted locks. Seeing this, Sumantra’s eyes filled with tears.

सुमंत्र के हृदय में अत्यंत संताप था और मुख उदास था। हाथ जोड़कर उन्होंने बहुत दीन वचन कहे।

Sumantra’s heart was deeply anguished and his face downcast. Joining his hands, he spoke in deeply plaintive words.

हे नाथ, कोसल के राजा दशरथ ने ऐसा कहा था: ‘रथ लेकर राम के साथ जाओ।’

My lord, Dasharatha, king of Kosala, said: ‘Take the chariot and go with Rama.’
