क्या विधाता फिर मेरी दशा बदलेंगे? क्या मैं अपनी आँखों से राम-सीता की मनोहर जोड़ी देखूँगी?

Will providence turn my circumstances around again? Will I see the lovely pair, Rama and Sita, with my own eyes?

बेटा, वह शुभ दिन और शुभ घड़ी कब आएगी, जब तुम्हारी माता जीते-जी तुम्हारा चंद्रमा-सा मुख देखेगी?

My son, when will that blessed day and hour come, when your mother, still alive, will behold your moonlike face?

फिर ‘वत्स’, ‘लाल’, ‘रघुपति’, ‘रघुश्रेष्ठ’, ‘बेटा’ कहकर—

Again, calling you ‘my child,’ ‘my darling,’ ‘lord of Raghu’s lineage,’ ‘best of the Raghus,’ and ‘dear son’—

कब तुम्हें पुकारकर हृदय से लगाऊँगी और हर्ष से तुम्हारे शरीर को निहारूँगी?

When will I call you to me, clasp you to my heart, and joyfully gaze upon your form?
