अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.57

हे स्वामी, मेरे देवता और पितर सब आप ही हैं। मुझे वैसे ही सुरक्षित रखिए जैसे पलक आँख को रखती है।

My lord, you alone are all my gods and ancestors. Protect me as the eyelid protects the eye.

वनवास की निर्धारित अवधि जल के समान है और प्रिय परिजन मछलियों के समान हैं। आप करुणा के भंडार और धर्म का भार सँभालने वाले हैं।

The appointed term of exile is like water, and your dear family are like fish. You are a storehouse of compassion and an upholder of duty.

ऐसा विचारकर वही उपाय कीजिए जिससे लौटकर आप सबको जीवित मिल सकें।

Considering this, take such measures that, when you return, you may find everyone alive.

मैं आप पर बलि जाऊँ; सेवकों, परिजनों और नगर को अनाथ करके वन को सुखपूर्वक जाइए।

I give myself for you; go peacefully to the forest, leaving your people, family, and town without their protector.

आज सबके पुण्य का फल समाप्त हो गया; समय भयानक और प्रतिकूल हो गया।

Today the fruit of everyone's good deeds has run out; time has become dreadful and adverse.

अनेक प्रकार से विलाप करके माता चरणों से लिपट गईं और स्वयं को अत्यंत अभागिनी समझने लगीं।

Lamenting in many ways, the mother clung to his feet and regarded herself as utterly unfortunate.
