अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.5

ऐसा हृदय में विचारकर क्रोध छोड़ दो; शोक और कलंक का भंडार मत बनो।

Reflect on this in your heart and give up anger; do not become a storehouse of sorrow and disgrace.

भरत को अवश्य युवराज का पद दो; राम का वन में क्या काम है?

By all means grant Bharata the position of crown prince; what business does Rama have in the forest?

राम राज्य के भूखे नहीं हैं; वे धर्म का भार सँभालने वाले और विषय-सुखों के रस से विरक्त हैं।

Rama does not crave kingship; he upholds righteousness and is indifferent to the pleasures of the senses.

राम अपना घर छोड़कर गुरु के घर रहें; राजा से ऐसा दूसरा वर माँग लो।

Let Rama leave his own home and live at his teacher’s house; ask the king for this as your second boon.

यदि तुम हमारे कहे पर नहीं चलोगी, तो तुम्हारे हाथ कुछ भी नहीं लगेगा।

If you do not heed our advice, you will gain nothing.

यदि तुमने कुछ हँसी-मज़ाक में किया हो, तो वही बात कहकर स्पष्ट बता दो।

If you have done any of this in jest, then say so and make it clear.
