कैकेयी उत्तर नहीं देती; असह्य क्रोध से रूखी होकर वह ऐसे देखती है, जैसे भूखी बाघिन हिरनों को देखती हो।

Kaikeyi gives no answer; harsh with unbearable anger, she looks at them as a hungry tigress looks at deer.

उसकी इस दशा को असाध्य रोग समझकर उन स्त्रियों ने उसे समझाना छोड़ दिया और उसे मंदबुद्धि तथा अभागी कहती हुई चली गईं।

Taking her condition to be an incurable illness, the women gave up trying to persuade her and left, calling her foolish and unfortunate.

राजसुख भोगते हुए इसे विधाता ने बिगाड़ दिया है; इसने ऐसा काम किया है जैसा कोई नहीं करता।

While she was enjoying royal privilege, fate ruined her judgment; she has done what no one else would do.

इस प्रकार नगर के स्त्री-पुरुष विलाप करते हैं और उस कुचाल चलने वाली कैकेयी को असंख्य गालियाँ देते हैं।

Thus the city's men and women lament and heap countless curses on Kaikeyi for her wicked scheming.

वे तीव्र संताप में जलते और आहें भरते हैं: राम के बिना जीवित रहने की क्या आशा है?

They burn with fierce anguish and heave sighs: what hope is there of living without Rama?

राम-वियोग के भारी दुःख से प्रजा व्याकुल हो गई, मानो पानी सूखने पर जलचरों का समूह व्याकुल हो।

The people became distraught at the immense pain of separation from Rama, like aquatic creatures when their water dries up.
