जहाँ जनक और गुरु की बुद्धि भी भोली पड़ जाती है, वहाँ इस प्रेम को लौकिक प्रेम कहना बड़ा दोष है।

Where even Janaka’s and the guru’s understanding is bewildered, calling this love merely worldly is a grave fault.

राम और भरत के वियोग का वर्णन सुनकर लोग कवि को कठोर हृदय वाला समझेंगे।

Hearing the description of Rama and Bharata’s separation, people will consider the poet hard-hearted.

उस संकोच का भाव अवर्णनीय है; उस समय और स्नेह को याद करके सुंदर वाणी भी संकुचित हो गई।

The feeling of that tender hesitation is beyond description; recalling the occasion and its affection, even eloquent speech shrank from expressing it.

राम ने भरत को गले लगाकर समझाया; फिर शत्रुघ्न को प्रसन्न होकर हृदय से लगा लिया।

Rama embraced Bharata and consoled him; then, joyfully, he clasped Shatrughna to his heart.

भरत का संकेत पाकर सेवक और मंत्री सब जाकर अपने-अपने काम में लग गए।

Receiving Bharata’s indication, all the servants and ministers went to attend to their respective tasks.

यह सुनकर दोनों समाजों को भीषण दुःख हुआ; वे प्रस्थान की तैयारियाँ करने लगे।

Hearing this, both assemblies felt terrible sorrow and began making preparations to depart.
