आप प्रिय अतिथि हैं, जिन्होंने वन में चरण रखे हैं; हमारे भाग्य में आपकी सेवा के योग्य होना नहीं है।

You are dear guests who have set foot in the forest; we lack the good fortune to be worthy of serving you.

स्वामी, हम आपको क्या दें? वनवासी किरातों की मित्रता में देने को ईंधन और पत्ते ही हैं।

Master, what can we give you? The friendship of forest-dwelling Kiratas offers only firewood and leaves.

हमारी यही बहुत बड़ी सेवा है कि हम आपके बर्तन और कपड़े चुराकर नहीं ले जाते।

This is our very great service: we do not steal and carry off your utensils and clothes.

हम अज्ञानी जीव हैं, अनेक जीवों के हत्यारे; कुटिल, बुरे आचरण वाले, दुर्बुद्धि और नीच जाति के हैं—ऐसा वे अपने को कहते हैं।

They describe themselves as ignorant beings, killers of many creatures, crooked, ill-behaved, misguided, and of low birth.

पाप करते हुए हमारे रात-दिन बीतते हैं; न कमर पर कपड़ा है, न पेट भरते हैं।

Our nights and days pass in wrongdoing; we have no cloth around our waists, nor are our bellies filled.
