अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.222

वे प्रेम से एक-दूसरी से कहती हैं, “सखी, ये राम और लक्ष्मण हैं या नहीं?”

They lovingly ask one another, “Friend, are these Rama and Lakshmana or not?”

“सखी, उनकी अवस्था, शरीर, रंग और रूप वही हैं; शील और स्नेह वैसे ही हैं और चाल भी समान है।”

“Friend, their age, build, complexion, and appearance are the same; their character and affection are alike, and so is their gait.”

“लेकिन सखी, वह वेश नहीं है, सीता साथ नहीं हैं और आगे चतुरंगिणी सेना चल रही है।”

“But, friend, the attire is not the same, Sita is not with them, and a fourfold army marches ahead.”

“मुख प्रसन्न नहीं हैं और मन में खेद है। सखी, इन्हीं भिन्नताओं से संदेह होता है।”

“Their faces are not cheerful, and their minds are sorrowful. Friend, these differences cause doubt.”

उसकी तर्कपूर्ण बात स्त्रियों के मन को जँच गई। सब कहती हैं कि उसके समान कोई सयानी नहीं है।

Her reasoning convinced the women. They all say that no one is as discerning as she is.

उसकी प्रशंसा करके और उसकी बात को सत्य मानकर आदर देने के बाद, दूसरी स्त्री मधुर वचन बोली।

After praising her and honoring her words as true, another woman spoke sweetly.
