अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.177

गुरु ने मुझे अच्छा उपदेश दिया है, जिसे प्रजा, मंत्री और सभी स्वीकार करते हैं।

The guru has given me sound counsel, approved by the people, the ministers, and everyone.

माता ने भी उचित मानकर आज्ञा दी है; उसे अवश्य सिर पर रखकर पूरा करना चाहिए।

Mother too has given her command, deeming it proper; it should certainly be respectfully accepted and carried out.

गुरु, पिता, माता और स्वामी की हितकारी वाणी सुनकर, उसे भली जानकर प्रसन्न मन से उसका पालन करना चाहिए।

Having heard the beneficial words of one's guru, father, mother, and master, one should recognize them as good and follow them gladly.

उनकी आज्ञा उचित है या अनुचित—ऐसा विचार करने से धर्म चला जाता है और सिर पर पाप का भार आ पड़ता है।

By deliberating whether their command is proper or improper, one loses one's duty and incurs a burden of sin.

आप तो वही निष्कपट सीख देते हैं जिसके अनुसार चलने से मेरा भला हो।

You indeed give only sincere advice which, when followed, would benefit me.

यद्यपि मैं यह अच्छी तरह समझता हूँ, फिर भी मेरे मन को संतोष नहीं होता।

Although I understand this well, my heart still finds no satisfaction.
