अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.127

हे राम, आपके चरित देखकर और सुनकर अज्ञानी मोह में पड़ते हैं, जबकि विवेकी सुख पाते हैं।

O Rama, seeing and hearing your deeds, the undiscerning become bewildered, while the wise find joy.

आप जो कुछ कहते और करते हैं, वह सब सत्य है; जैसा वेश धारण किया जाए, वैसा ही अभिनय करना चाहिए।

Whatever you say and do is true; one should perform according to the costume one has assumed.

आपने मुझसे पूछा, ‘मैं कहाँ रहूँ?’ किंतु मैं आपसे पूछने में संकोच करता हूँ—

You asked me, ‘Where should I dwell?’ But I hesitate to ask you—

जहाँ आप नहीं हैं, वह स्थान बता दीजिए; तब मैं आपको रहने की जगह दिखाऊँ।

Tell me where you are not present; then I shall show you a place to dwell.
