अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.119

स्त्री-पुरुष लौटते हुए बहुत पछताते हैं और मन-ही-मन दैव को दोष देते हैं।

Returning, the women and men grieve deeply and inwardly blame fate.

वे दुख के साथ आपस में कहते हैं कि विधाता के सब कार्य उलटे हैं।

In sorrow they say to one another, “All the Creator’s works are contrary to what they should be.”

वह विधाता बिल्कुल निरंकुश, निष्ठुर और निःशंक है, जिसने चंद्रमा को रोगयुक्त और कलंकयुक्त बनाया।

The Creator is utterly unrestrained, cruel, and without misgiving—the one who made the moon afflicted and blemished.

जिसने कल्पतरु को भी वृक्ष और समुद्र को खारा बनाया, उसी ने राजकुमारों को वन भेज दिया।

The same Creator who made even the wish-fulfilling tree a tree and the ocean salty has sent the princes into the forest.

यदि इन्हीं को वनवास दिया, तो विधाता ने भोग-विलास व्यर्थ ही बनाए।

If the Creator gave these very people forest exile, then he made pleasures and luxuries in vain.

ये मार्ग पर बिना पादुकाओं के चलते हैं; विधाता ने नाना वाहन व्यर्थ ही बनाए।

These people travel the road without footwear; the Creator fashioned all kinds of vehicles in vain.
