अरण्यकाण्ड 3.36

मंत्र का जप और मुझमें दृढ़ विश्वास—यह पाँचवीं भक्ति है, जिसे वेद प्रकट करते हैं।

Chanting the mantra and firm faith in me constitute the fifth form of devotion, proclaimed by the Vedas.

छठी भक्ति है इंद्रिय-संयम, सुशीलता, अनेक कर्मों से विरक्ति और सज्जनों के धर्माचरण में निरंतर लगे रहना।

The sixth is restraint of the senses, good conduct, detachment from manifold activities, and constant dedication to the righteous practices of good people.

सातवीं भक्ति है समदृष्टि से जगत को मुझसे व्याप्त देखना और संतों को मुझसे भी अधिक मानना।

The seventh is to see the world impartially as pervaded by me, and to esteem saints even more highly than me.

आठवीं भक्ति है जो प्राप्त हो उसमें संतोष रखना और स्वप्न में भी दूसरों के दोष न देखना।

The eighth is contentment with whatever one receives and not looking for others’ faults even in a dream.

नौवीं भक्ति है सरल और सबके प्रति छलरहित होना, मुझ पर भरोसा रखना और हृदय में न हर्ष का उछाल होना, न दैन्य।

The ninth is simplicity and freedom from deceit toward everyone, reliance on me, and a heart neither elated nor dejected.

इन नौ में से एक भी भक्ति जिसमें हो—चाहे स्त्री हो, पुरुष हो या चर-अचर कोई भी प्राणी—

Whoever possesses even one of these nine forms of devotion—whether a woman, a man, or any being, moving or unmoving—
