अरण्यकाण्ड 3.28

तब रावण ने अपना वास्तविक रूप दिखाया। जब उसने अपना नाम बताया, सीता भयभीत हो गईं।

Then Ravana revealed his true form. When he declared his name, Sita became afraid.

सीता ने दृढ़ धैर्य धारण करके कहा, ‘प्रभु आ पहुँचे हैं; दुष्ट, वहीं खड़ा रह!’

Gathering firm courage, Sita said, ‘My lord has arrived; stay where you are, villain!’

‘जैसे कोई तुच्छ खरगोश सिंह की पत्नी को चाहे, वैसे ही तुम काल के वश हो गए हो, हे राक्षसराज!’

‘Like a puny hare desiring a lion’s mate, you have fallen under death’s power, O king of demons!’

ये वचन सुनकर रावण क्रुद्ध हुआ; किंतु मन में सीता के चरणों को प्रणाम करके उसने सुख अनुभव किया।

Hearing these words, Ravana grew angry, yet inwardly he bowed to Sita’s feet and felt joy.

तब क्रोधित रावण ने सीता को रथ में बैठाकर ले लिया।

Then the angry Ravana seized Sita, seating her in his chariot.

वह आकाशमार्ग से चला; भय से इतना व्याकुल था कि रथ ठीक से हाँका नहीं जा रहा था।

He departed through the sky, so agitated by fear that he could not properly drive the chariot.
