उत्तरकाण्ड 7.79

हे पक्षिराज गरुड़, इसी प्रकार हरि के भजन के बिना जीवों का क्लेश नहीं मिटता।

Likewise, O Garuda, king of birds, living beings’ suffering does not cease without devotion to Hari.

हरि के सेवक को अविद्या नहीं घेरती; प्रभु की प्रेरणा से उसमें विद्या व्याप्त होती है।

Ignorance does not envelop Hari’s servant; knowledge pervades him through the Lord’s prompting.

इसलिए सेवक का नाश नहीं होता; हे श्रेष्ठ पक्षी, भेद-बोध से भक्ति बढ़ती है। ‘भाढ़इ’ का पाठ अनिश्चित है।

Therefore the servant is not destroyed; O foremost bird, awareness of distinction increases devotion. The reading ‘भाढ़इ’ is uncertain.

राम ने मुझे भ्रम के कारण चकित देखा और मुस्कराए। अब वह विशेष चरित सुनो।

Rama saw me bewildered by delusion and smiled. Now hear that remarkable episode.

उस कौतुक का मर्म किसी ने नहीं जाना—न छोटे भाइयों ने, न माता ने, न पिता ने भी।

No one understood the secret of that wondrous play—not his younger brothers, his mother, or even his father.

राम घुटनों और हाथों के बल मुझे पकड़ने दौड़े; उनका शरीर साँवला था और हाथ-पाँव लालिमा लिए थे।

Rama hurried on his knees and hands to catch me; his body was dark, and his hands and feet were reddish.
