उत्तरकाण्ड 7.13

जिनका पतितों को पवित्र करने का महान प्रण कवि, वेद, संत और पुराण गाते हैं—

Whose great pledge to purify the fallen is sung by poets, the Vedas, saints, and the Puranas—

हे मन, कुटिलता छोड़कर उन्हीं को भज। राम को भजकर किसने मुक्ति नहीं पाई?

O mind, abandon crookedness and worship him. Who has failed to attain liberation by worshipping Rama?

सुन, हे मूर्ख मन! पतितों को पवित्र करने वाले राम को भजकर किसने मुक्ति नहीं पाई?

Listen, foolish mind! Who has not attained liberation by worshipping Rama, purifier of the fallen?

उन्होंने गणिका, अजामिल, व्याध, गीध और हाथी आदि तथा अनेक दुष्टों को तार दिया।

He delivered the courtesan, Ajamila, the hunter, the vulture, the elephant, and many wicked people.

आभीर, यवन, किरात, खस और श्वपच आदि, जिन्हें यहाँ अत्यंत पापमय कहा गया है—

Abhiras, Yavanas, Kiratas, Khasas, and Shvapachas and others, described here as deeply sinful—

एक बार नाम कहकर वे भी पवित्र हो जाते हैं। हे राम, मैं आपको प्रणाम करता हूँ।

By uttering the name even once, they too become pure. O Rama, I bow to you.

जो लोग रघुवंश के भूषण राम के इस चरित को कहते, सुनते और गाते हैं—

Those who recount, hear, and sing this account of Rama, ornament of Raghu’s lineage—

वे कलियुग और मन की मलिनता धोकर, बिना श्रम राम के धाम जाते हैं।

They wash away the impurities of Kali and of the mind and reach Rama’s abode without toil.

जो व्यक्ति इन सुंदर चौपाइयों को पाँच उत्तम चौपाइयाँ जानकर हृदय में धारण करता है—

Whoever recognizes these lovely verses as five excellent chaupais and holds them in the heart—

श्री रघुवर उसकी भयंकर अविद्या और उससे उत्पन्न पाँच विकार हर लेते हैं।

Sri Rama removes that person’s terrible ignorance and the five disorders arising from it.

जो सुंदर, सुज्ञ और कृपा के भंडार हैं तथा असहायों से प्रेम करते हैं—

He who is beautiful, wise, a treasury of compassion, and loving toward the helpless—

वे अकेले राम हैं, जो निःस्वार्थ हित करते और मुक्ति देते हैं; उनके समान दूसरा कौन है?

That is Rama alone, who benefits others without self-interest and grants liberation; who else is his equal?

जिनकी कृपा के अत्यंत छोटे अंश से मंदबुद्धि तुलसीदास ने भी—

Through the tiniest fraction of whose grace, even dull-witted Tulsidas—

परम शांति पाई; राम के समान प्रभु कहीं नहीं हैं।

Has attained supreme repose; nowhere is there a lord equal to Rama.

हे रघुवीर, मेरे समान दीन कोई नहीं और आपके समान दीनों का हितैषी कोई नहीं।

O Rama, hero of Raghu’s lineage, none is as helpless as I, and none befriends the helpless as you do.

ऐसा विचारकर, हे रघुवंश के मणि, संसार की भयंकर विपत्ति हर लीजिए।

Considering this, O jewel of Raghu’s lineage, remove the dreadful distress of worldly existence.

जैसे कामी को स्त्री प्रिय होती है और लोभी को धन प्रिय होता है—

As a lustful person loves a woman, and a greedy person loves money—

वैसे ही, हे रघुनाथ राम, आप मुझे निरंतर प्रिय लगें।

So may you, O Rama, lord of Raghu’s lineage, remain continually dear to me.

जो गूढ़ रामायण पहले प्रभु श्री शंभु, श्रेष्ठ कवि, ने रची थी—

The profound Ramayana that was formerly composed by Lord Shiva, the excellent poet—

श्री राम के चरणकमलों में निरंतर भक्ति की प्राप्ति के लिए वह रामायण रची गई थी।

That Ramayana was composed for attaining ceaseless devotion to the lotus feet of glorious Rama.

उस पर विचार करके, रघुनाथ के नाम में लीन होकर, अपने हृदय का अंधकार शांत करने के लिए—

Having reflected on it, absorbed in Raghunatha’s name, to dispel the darkness of his own heart—

तुलसीदास ने उसी प्रकार यह मानस लोकभाषा में रचा।

Tulsidas accordingly composed this Manas in the vernacular.

यह पुण्यदायक, पापहर, सदा कल्याणकारी और अनुभूत ज्ञान तथा भक्ति देने वाला है।

It is holy, removes sin, always brings well-being, and bestows realized knowledge and devotion.

यह माया और मोह की मलिनता हटाने वाला, अत्यंत निर्मल, प्रेमरूपी जल से भरा और मंगलमय है।

It removes the impurity of illusion and delusion, is utterly pure, filled with the water of love, and auspicious.

जो इस श्री रामचरितमानस में भक्ति से डुबकी लगाते हैं—

Those who immerse themselves with devotion in this glorious Ramcharitmanas—

वे मनुष्य संसाररूपी सूर्य की भयंकर किरणों से नहीं जलते।

Those people are not scorched by the fierce rays of the sun of worldly existence.
