उत्तरकाण्ड 7.118

हे भाई, माया अनेक ऋद्धियों और सिद्धियों को भेजती है; वे आकर बुद्धि को प्रलोभन दिखाती हैं।

Brother, Maya sends many forms of prosperity and supernatural accomplishment; they approach and tempt the intellect.

वे युक्ति, बल और छल करके पास जाती हैं और आँचल की हवा से दीपक बुझाती हैं।

Using contrivance, force, and deception, they draw near and extinguish the lamp with the breeze from their garments.

यदि बुद्धि अत्यंत समझदार हो, तो उन्हें अहितकारी जानकर उनकी ओर नहीं देखती।

If the intellect is exceedingly wise, it recognizes them as harmful and does not look toward them.

यदि उस विघ्न से बुद्धि बाधित नहीं होती, तो फिर देवता उपद्रव करते हैं।

If that obstacle does not impede the intellect, the gods then create further trouble.

इंद्रियाँ अनेक द्वार और झरोखे हैं; प्रत्येक स्थान पर देवता अपना ठिकाना बनाकर बैठे हैं।

The senses are the various doors and windows; at each, the gods sit established at their posts.

जब वे विषयों की हवा आती देखते हैं, तो हठपूर्वक कपाट खोल देते हैं।

When they see the breeze of sense objects approaching, they insistently throw open the shutters.
