सुन्दरकाण्ड 5.48

हे मित्र, सुनो, मैं अपना स्वभाव कहता हूँ; उसे काकभुशुंडि, शिव और पार्वती जानते हैं।

Listen, friend: I tell you my own nature, which Kakabhushundi, Shiva, and Parvati know.

यदि कोई मनुष्य समस्त चर-अचर जगत का द्रोही भी हो, पर भयभीत होकर मेरी शरण लेने आए,

Even if a person is hostile to all moving and unmoving creation, but comes in fear seeking my refuge,

और अभिमान, मोह, कपट तथा अनेक छल छोड़ दे, तो मैं उसे तुरंत साधु के समान कर देता हूँ।

and abandons pride, delusion, hypocrisy, and manifold deceit, I immediately make that person like a virtuous saint.

माता, पिता, भाई, पुत्र, पत्नी, शरीर, धन, घर, मित्र और परिवार—

Mother, father, brother, son, wife, body, wealth, home, friends, and family—

इन सबके प्रति ममता के धागे बटोरकर, उनकी डोरी बटकर जो अपने मन को मेरे चरणों से बाँध देता है,

one who gathers the threads of attachment to all these, twists them into a cord, and binds the mind to my feet,

जो सबको समान दृष्टि से देखता है, जिसकी कोई इच्छा नहीं, और जिसके मन में हर्ष, शोक तथा भय नहीं हैं—

who sees all with an equal eye, has no desire, and has no elation, sorrow, or fear in the mind—
