अत्यंत भयानक शक्ति-अस्त्र को आते देखकर राम ने विचार किया: शरणागतों का दुःख दूर करना मेरा प्रण है।

Seeing the extremely fearsome spear approaching, Rama reflected: It is my vow to remove the suffering of those who seek refuge.

राम ने तुरंत विभीषण को पीछे कर दिया और स्वयं सामने होकर उसी भाले का आघात सहा।

Rama immediately moved Vibhishana behind him and, facing the weapon himself, bore the blow of that very spear.

शक्ति-अस्त्र लगा और राम को कुछ मूर्च्छा हुई। प्रभु द्वारा किए गए इस खेल से देवता व्याकुल हो गए।

The spear struck, and Rama briefly swooned. This play enacted by the Lord distressed the gods.

प्रभु को कष्ट में देखकर विभीषण हाथ में गदा पकड़कर क्रोधित होकर दौड़े।

Seeing the Lord in distress, Vibhishana seized a mace in his hand and rushed forward in anger.

अरे अभागे, मूर्ख, अधम और दुर्बुद्धि वाले! तू देवताओं, मनुष्यों, मुनियों और नागों के विरुद्ध हो गया है।

You ill-fated fool, base and wicked-minded! You have set yourself against gods, humans, sages, and nagas.

तूने आदरपूर्वक शिव को सिर चढ़ाए और एक-एक सिर के बदले करोड़ों सिर पाए।

You reverently offered your heads to Shiva and received crores of heads in return for each one.
