तब पवनपुत्र हनुमान ने उसे मुक्का मारा। वह धरती पर गिर पड़ा और व्याकुल होकर सिर पटकने लगा।

Then Hanuman, son of the wind god, struck him with his fist. He fell to the ground and beat his head in distress.

फिर उठकर कुंभकर्ण ने हनुमान को मारा। हनुमान चक्कर खाकर तुरंत धरती पर गिर पड़े।

Then Kumbhakarna rose and struck Hanuman, who immediately fell to the ground, reeling.

फिर उसने नल और नील को धरती पर पटक दिया और योद्धाओं को यहाँ-वहाँ बार-बार पटककर फेंक दिया।

Then he dashed Nala and Nila to the ground and repeatedly flung warriors down here and there.

वानर सेना भाग चली। अत्यंत भयभीत होकर कोई भी उसके सामने नहीं आता था।

The monkey army fled. Terrified, none would face him.

अंगद आदि वानरों को, सुग्रीव सहित, मूर्छित करके—

Having rendered Angada and the other monkeys unconscious, including Sugriva—

अपरिमित बल की सीमा कुंभकर्ण वानरराज सुग्रीव को काँख में दबाकर चल पड़ा।

Kumbhakarna, the very limit of immeasurable strength, departed with Sugriva, king of the monkeys, tucked under his arm.
