अब, प्यारे पुत्र, मेरा निष्ठुर कठोर हृदय अपयश और तुम्हारे वियोग का शोक सहेगा।

Now, dear son, my pitiless, hard heart will bear disgrace and the grief of losing you.

प्रिय भाई, तुम अपनी माता के एकमात्र पुत्र हो और उनके प्राणों के आधार हो।

Dear brother, you are your mother’s only son and the support of her life.

उन्होंने तुम्हारा हाथ पकड़कर तुम्हें मुझे सौंपा, मुझे हर प्रकार से सुख देने वाला और परम हितैषी जानकर।

She took your hand and entrusted you to me, knowing me to be a giver of happiness in every way and your greatest well-wisher.

वहाँ जाकर मैं उन्हें क्या उत्तर दूँगा? भाई, उठकर मुझे क्यों नहीं सिखाते?

What answer shall I give her when I go there? Brother, why do you not rise and tell me?

शोक दूर करने वाले राम अनेक प्रकार से चिंतित हो रहे थे; उनके कमलदल जैसे नेत्रों से आँसू बह रहे थे।

Rama, the dispeller of sorrow, was troubled in many ways; tears streamed from his lotus-petal eyes.

हे उमा, रघुनाथ एक और अखंड हैं; भक्तों पर कृपा करने वाले उन्होंने मनुष्य की दशा प्रकट की।

O Uma, the Lord of Raghu’s line is one and undivided; compassionate toward devotees, he displayed the human condition.

प्रभु का विलाप कानों से सुनकर वानरों के समूह व्याकुल हो गए।

Hearing the Lord’s lament with their own ears, the groups of monkeys became distraught.

हनुमान आ पहुँचे, जैसे करुण रस के बीच वीर रस प्रकट हो गया हो।

Hanuman arrived, as though the heroic sentiment had appeared amid the sentiment of pathos.
