लङ्काकाण्ड 6.24

हे दशमुख रावण, तुम्हारे उसी सुहावने स्वभाव को सोचकर मैंने यह ढिठाई की है।

Ten-headed Ravana, considering that pleasing disposition of yours, I have taken this liberty.

हनुमान ने जो कुछ कहा था, यहाँ आकर मैंने देख लिया: तुममें न लज्जा है, न क्रोध, न खीझ।

On coming here I have seen what Hanuman described: you have neither shame, anger, nor indignation.

“यदि तुम्हारी ऐसी बुद्धि है, तो अपने पिता को क्यों खा गए, हे वानर?” ऐसे वचन कहकर दशमुख रावण हँसा।

“If you are so wise, why did you devour your father, monkey?” Saying this, ten-headed Ravana laughed.

पिता को खाकर फिर तुम्हें भी खा जाता; पर अभी मुझे कुछ समझ में आया है।

Having devoured my father, I would have devoured you too; but just now something has dawned on me.

बालि को निर्मल यश का पात्र जानकर, हे नीच अभिमानी, मैं तुम्हें नहीं मारता।

Knowing Bali to be a bearer of spotless fame, I do not kill you, base and arrogant one.

कहो रावण, संसार में कितने रावण हैं? जितनों के विषय में मैंने अपने कानों से सुना है, उन्हें सुनो।
