लङ्काकाण्ड 6.16

हे मृगनयनी, तुम्हारी बात गूढ़ है; समझने पर सुख देने वाली और सुनने पर भय दूर करने वाली है।

O doe-eyed one, your speech is profound: delightful when understood and dispelling fear when heard.

मंदोदरी ने मन में ऐसा निश्चय किया कि काल के वश होकर उसके पति की बुद्धि भ्रमित हो गई है।

Mandodari concluded in her heart that, under the sway of approaching death, her husband’s judgment had become confused.

दस सिरों वाला रावण इस प्रकार बहुत विनोद करता रहा; इसी बीच प्रभात हो गया।

As ten-headed Ravana continued jesting in this way, dawn appeared.

स्वभाव से निःशंक और अहंकार में अंधा लंकापति रावण सभा में गया।

Naturally unafraid and blinded by arrogance, Ravana, lord of Lanka, went to the assembly.

यद्यपि बादल अमृत बरसाएँ, फिर भी बेंत न फूलता है, न फलता है।

Even if clouds rain nectar, the cane neither flowers nor bears fruit.

मूर्ख के हृदय में समझ नहीं आती, भले ही उसे ब्रह्मा के समान गुरु मिल जाएँ।

Understanding does not awaken in a fool’s heart, even if he finds a teacher equal to Brahma.
