पति का सिर देखकर मंदोदरी मूर्छित और व्याकुल होकर धरती पर गिर पड़ी।

Seeing her husband's head, Mandodari fainted and fell distraught to the ground.

युवतियों का समूह रोते हुए उठकर दौड़ा; वे मंदोदरी को उठाकर रावण के पास आईं।

The young women rose and rushed over weeping; lifting Mandodari, they came to Ravana.

पति की दशा देखकर वे विलाप करने लगीं; उनके बाल खुल गए और उन्हें अपने शरीर की सुध न रही।

Seeing their husband's condition, they cried out in lament; their hair came loose, and they paid no heed to their bodies.

वे अनेक प्रकार से छाती पीटती हैं और रोते हुए रावण के प्रताप का वर्णन करती हैं।

They beat their breasts in various ways and, weeping, recount Ravana's might.

हे नाथ, आपके बल से धरती नित्य काँपती थी; अग्नि, चंद्रमा और सूर्य आपके सामने तेजहीन थे।

O lord, the earth constantly trembled at your power; fire, the moon, and the sun lacked brilliance beside you.

शेषनाग और कच्छप भी जिसका भार नहीं सह सकते थे, वही शरीर धरती पर धूल से भरकर पड़ा है।

That very body, whose weight even Shesha and the cosmic tortoise could not bear, now lies on the ground covered in dust.
