लङ्काकाण्ड 6.103

एक बाण ने रावण की नाभि का अमृत-सरोवर सुखा दिया; अन्य बाण क्रोधपूर्वक उसकी भुजाओं और सिरों में लगे।

One arrow dried up the reservoir of nectar in Ravana’s navel; the others struck his arms and heads in wrath.

बाण सिरों और भुजाओं को लेकर चले गए; सिर और भुजाओं से रहित धड़ पृथ्वी पर नाचने लगा।

The arrows carried away the heads and arms; the headless, armless trunk danced on the earth.

धड़ प्रचंड वेग से दौड़ा तो पृथ्वी धँसने लगी। तब प्रभु राम ने बाण मारकर उसके दो टुकड़े कर दिए।

As the trunk rushed fiercely, the earth sank beneath it. Then Lord Rama struck it with an arrow and split it into two pieces.

मरते समय रावण भयंकर ऊँचे स्वर में गरजा और ललकारा: ‘राम कहाँ है? उसे युद्ध में मारूँ!’

While dying, Ravana roared in a terrible, loud voice and challenged: ‘Where is Rama? Let me kill him in battle!’

दसकंधर रावण के गिरते ही पृथ्वी काँप उठी; समुद्र, नदियाँ, दिशाओं के हाथी और पर्वत विचलित हो गए।

As ten-headed Ravana fell, the earth shook; oceans, rivers, the elephants of the directions, and mountains were shaken.

रावण का शरीर दो विशाल टुकड़ों में पृथ्वी पर गिरा और भालुओं तथा वानरों के समूहों को नीचे दबा दिया।

Ravana’s body fell to the earth in two sprawling pieces, pinning groups of bears and monkeys beneath it.
