In the heavy rain, the boundaries of garden beds broke and washed away, likened here to women going astray when independent—a historical social comparison in the verse.

चतुर किसान खेती की निराई करते हैं, जैसे बुद्धिमान लोग मोह, मद और अभिमान छोड़ते हैं।

Skilled farmers weed their fields, just as the wise abandon delusion, arrogance, and pride.

चक्रवाक पक्षी दिखाई नहीं देते, जैसे कलियुग आने पर धर्म भाग जाता है।

Chakravaka birds are not seen, just as righteousness flees when the age of Kali arrives.

वर्षा होने पर भी ऊसर भूमि में घास नहीं उगती, जैसे भगवान के भक्त के हृदय में कामना नहीं उपजती।

Even with rain, grass does not grow on barren saline ground, just as lust does not arise in a devotee’s heart.

विविध जीवों से भरी धरती शोभित होती है, जैसे अच्छा राजा पाकर प्रजा बढ़ती और फलती-फूलती है।

The earth shines, teeming with varied creatures, as a people grow and prosper upon gaining a good king.

अनेक पथिक थककर जहाँ-तहाँ रुक गए हैं, जैसे ज्ञान उत्पन्न होने पर इंद्रियों का समूह शांत हो जाता है।

Many travelers, exhausted, have stopped here and there, as the senses become still when spiritual knowledge arises.

कभी तेज हवा बहती है और बादल इधर-उधर बिखरकर विलीन हो जाते हैं।

Sometimes a strong wind blows, and the clouds scatter and disappear here and there.

जैसे कुपुत्र के जन्म लेने पर कुल के सदाचार नष्ट हो जाते हैं।

Just as a family’s virtuous traditions perish when a wayward son is born.

कभी दिन में घना अंधकार हो जाता है, तो कभी सूर्य प्रकट होता है।

Sometimes dense darkness falls during the day; at other times the sun appears.

जैसे कुसंग पाकर ज्ञान नष्ट हो जाता है और सुसंग पाकर उत्पन्न होता है।

Just as knowledge perishes through bad company and arises through good company.
