बुद्धि अत्यंत हीन है, पर चाह ऊँची और उत्तम है; अमृत चाहता हूँ, जबकि संसार में छाछ भी नहीं जुटती।

सज्जन मेरी धृष्टता क्षमा करेंगे और मेरे बालसुलभ वचन ध्यान लगाकर सुनेंगे।

यदि बालक तुतलाती बातें कहता है, तो पिता और माता प्रसन्न मन से सुनते हैं।

When a child speaks lisping words, father and mother listen with joyful hearts.

क्रूर, कुटिल और कुविचार वाले लोग हँसेंगे, जो दूसरों के दोषों को आभूषण की तरह धारण करते हैं।

Cruel, crooked, ill-minded people will mock—those who wear others’ faults like ornaments.

अपनी कविता किसे अच्छी नहीं लगती, चाहे वह रसपूर्ण हो अथवा अत्यंत नीरस?

Who does not find their own poetry pleasing, whether it is delightful or utterly dull?

जो दूसरों की कविता सुनकर प्रसन्न होते हैं, ऐसे श्रेष्ठ लोग संसार में बहुत नहीं हैं।

There are not many excellent people in the world who rejoice on hearing others’ poetry.
