पतिव्रता स्त्रियों में श्रेष्ठ सीता के गुणों की कथा ही इस नदी का निर्मल और अनुपम गुणों वाला जल है।

The account of the virtues of Sita, foremost among devoted wives, is this river’s pure water of incomparable qualities.

भरत का स्वभाव इस जल की अत्यंत शीतलता है, जो सदा एक-सी रहती है और जिसका वर्णन नहीं किया जा सकता।

Bharata’s nature is this water’s deep coolness, always unchanged and beyond description.

चारों भाइयों का एक-दूसरे को देखना, बोलना, मिलना, परस्पर प्रेम और हँसी—अगली पंक्ति के अनुसार—इस जल की मिठास और सुगंध हैं।

The four brothers’ looking at one another, speaking, meeting, mutual affection, and laughter—as completed in the next line—are the water’s sweetness and fragrance.

चारों भाइयों का सुंदर भाईचारा, तथा पिछली पंक्ति में कही गई उनकी पारस्परिक आत्मीयता, इस नदी के जल की मिठास और सुगंध हैं।

The fine brotherly bond of all four brothers, together with their affectionate interactions in the preceding line, is the sweetness and fragrance of this river’s water.
