दूसरों का अहित करने के लिए वे अपना शरीर तक त्याग देते हैं, जैसे ओले फसल को कुचलकर स्वयं गल जाते हैं।

They give up even their bodies to harm others, just as hailstones crush crops and then melt away.

मैं दुष्ट को क्रुद्ध शेषनाग के समान मानकर प्रणाम करता हूँ: वह हजार मुखों से दूसरों के दोषों का वर्णन करता है।

I bow to the wicked person as to an angry Shesha: he recounts others’ faults with a thousand mouths.

फिर मैं उसे राजा पृथु के समान प्रणाम करता हूँ: वह दूसरों के पाप दस हजार कानों से सुनता है।

Again I bow to him as to King Prithu: he listens to others’ sins with ten thousand ears.

फिर मैं उसे इंद्र के समान विनय करता हूँ, जिसे सदा सुरा का समूह प्रिय है—इंद्र को देवताओं का समूह प्रिय होने की शब्द-क्रीड़ा के साथ।

Next I address him humbly as an Indra: he constantly delights in quantities of liquor—a pun on Indra’s fondness for the hosts of gods.

जिसे वज्र जैसे कठोर वचन सदा प्रिय हैं और जो हजार आँखों से दूसरों के दोष देखता है।

He always delights in words as harsh as a thunderbolt and watches others’ faults with a thousand eyes.

तटस्थ व्यक्ति, शत्रु या मित्र—किसी का भी हित सुनकर दुष्ट जलते हैं; यही उनकी रीति है।

The wicked burn with envy on hearing of anyone’s welfare—whether a neutral person, an enemy, or a friend; such is their way.

यह जानकर यह सेवक दोनों हाथ जोड़कर प्रेमपूर्वक विनती करता है।

Knowing this, this servant joins both hands and makes a loving plea.
