इसका नाम रामचरितमानस है; इसे कानों से सुनने पर शांति मिलती है।

Its name is Ramcharitmanas; listening to it brings repose.

मन रूपी हाथी विषयों रूपी वन की आग में जलता है; यदि वह इस सरोवर में उतर जाए, तो सुखी हो जाता है।

The elephant-like mind burns in the forest fire of sense-objects; if it enters this lake, it becomes happy.

मुनियों को प्रिय, सुंदर और पावन रामचरितमानस की रचना शिव ने की।

Shiva composed Ramcharitmanas, pleasing to sages, beautiful, and purifying.

यह तीन प्रकार के दोषों, दुख और दरिद्रता का दमन करने वाला तथा कलियुग की बुरी चालों और पापों के समूह को नष्ट करने वाला है।

It subdues threefold faults, suffering, and poverty, and destroys the evil ways and accumulated impurities of the Kali age.

महेश ने इसे रचकर अपने मन में रखा और उचित अवसर पाकर पार्वती से कहा।

Having composed it, Shiva kept it in his own mind and, finding a suitable occasion, told it to Parvati.

इसी कारण शिव ने इसे हृदय में देखकर, प्रसन्न होकर, इसका श्रेष्ठ नाम ‘रामचरितमानस’ रखा।

For this reason, beholding it in his heart and rejoicing, Shiva gave it the excellent name Ramcharitmanas.
