इस नदी का दर्शन, स्पर्श, स्नान और जलपान पाप हरते हैं—वेद और पुराण ऐसा कहते हैं।

Seeing and touching this river, bathing in it, and drinking its water remove sins, say the Vedas and Puranas.

यह पवित्र नदी अत्यंत असीम महिमा वाली है; निर्मल बुद्धि वाली सरस्वती भी उसका वर्णन नहीं कर सकतीं।

This sacred river has utterly boundless glory; even Saraswati, with her pure intellect, cannot describe it.

यह सुंदर अयोध्या नगरी राम का धाम देने वाली है और समस्त लोकों में अत्यंत पवित्र मानी जाती है।

This lovely city of Ayodhya grants access to Rama’s abode and is known throughout all worlds as exceedingly holy.

जगत की चारों जन्म-श्रेणियों के असंख्य जीव यदि अयोध्या में शरीर त्यागते हैं, तो फिर संसार के जन्म-मरण में नहीं पड़ते।

The countless beings of the world’s four birth categories, if they leave their bodies in Ayodhya, do not return to the cycle of worldly rebirth.

इस नगरी को हर प्रकार से मनोहर, सभी सिद्धियाँ देने वाली और मंगल की खान जानकर—

Knowing this city to be delightful in every way, a giver of all spiritual attainments and a storehouse of auspiciousness—

मैंने निर्मल कथा का आरंभ किया, जिसे सुनने से काम, अहंकार और दंभ नष्ट होते हैं।
