वाद्य बहुत ऊँचे और गूँजते स्वर में बजने लगे। सभी मनोहर मंगल-साज सजाए गए।

Instruments sounded loudly and resoundingly. All the lovely arrangements for the auspicious celebration were prepared.

सुंदर मुख और सुंदर नेत्रों वाली, कोयल जैसी वाणी वाली स्त्रियाँ समूह-समूह में मिलकर मधुर गीत गाती हैं।

Women with lovely faces and eyes, whose voices are like cuckoos, gather in groups and sing sweet songs.

विदेह राजा जनक का सुख वर्णन नहीं किया जा सकता; मानो जन्म से दरिद्र व्यक्ति ने खजाना पा लिया हो।

The joy of Janaka, king of Videha, cannot be described—as though someone poor from birth had found a treasure.

भय दूर होने पर सीता सुखी हुईं, मानो चंद्रमा के उदय पर चकोर-कुमारी प्रसन्न हो गई हो।

Her fear gone, Sita became happy, like a young female chakora bird at moonrise.

जनक ने विश्वामित्र को प्रणाम किया और कहा, ‘प्रभु, आपकी कृपा से राम ने धनुष तोड़ा।’

Janaka bowed to Vishvamitra and said, ‘Master, by your grace Rama has broken the bow.’

‘दोनों भाइयों ने मुझे कृतार्थ कर दिया। अब जो उचित हो, वह बताइए, हे स्वामी।’

‘The two brothers have made me fulfilled. Now tell me what is proper, O master.’
