अच्छे और बुरे कवि तथा सभी स्त्री-पुरुष अपनी बुद्धि के अनुसार राजा की प्रशंसा करते हैं।

Good poets and poor poets, and all men and women, praise the king according to their own understanding.

सज्जन, विवेकशील और सुशील राजा ईश्वर के अंश से उत्पन्न तथा अत्यंत कृपालु होते हैं।

Virtuous, discerning, and gracious kings, born of a portion of the Lord, are exceedingly compassionate.

वे अच्छी वाणी सुनकर, काव्य, भक्ति और विनय की रीति पहचानकर सबका सम्मान करते हैं।

Hearing gracious words and discerning the character of the poetry, devotion, and humility, they honor everyone.

यह साधारण सांसारिक राजाओं का स्वभाव है; कोसल के राजा राम तो ज्ञानियों के शिरोमणि हैं।

Such is the nature of ordinary earthly kings; Rama, king of Kosala, is the foremost of the discerning.

राम तो केवल निष्कपट प्रेम से प्रसन्न होते हैं; संसार में मुझसे अधिक मंद और मलिन बुद्धिवाला कौन है?

Rama is pleased by pure, unalloyed love; who in the world is more dull and impure-minded than I?

कृपालु राम इस मूर्ख सेवक के प्रेम और इच्छा का मान रखेंगे।

Compassionate Rama will honor this foolish servant’s love and desire.

जिन्होंने पत्थरों को जल पर चलनेवाले साधन बनाया और वानरों तथा भालुओं को सुबुद्धि मंत्री बनाया।

He made stones into conveyances upon water, and monkeys and bears into wise counselors.

मैं भी उनका सेवक कहलाता हूँ, और सब ऐसा कहते हैं; राम यह उपहास सहते हैं।

I too am called his servant, and everyone says so; Rama bears this mockery.

स्वामी तो सीता के नाथ राम जैसे हैं और सेवक तुलसीदास है!

The master is one such as Rama, Sita’s lord, and the servant is Tulsidas!
