इसका शरीर गोरा है, पर मन भीतर काला है। यह कालकूट-विषमुँहा है, दूधमुँहा नहीं।

His body is fair, but his heart is dark within. His mouth holds deadly poison, not a child's milk.

यह स्वभाव से ही टेढ़ा है, तुम्हारे जैसा नहीं है। यह नीच मुझे मृत्यु के समान नहीं देखता।

He is crooked by nature and does not resemble you. This base fellow does not regard me as death itself.

लक्ष्मण ने हँसकर कहा, 'हे मुनि, सुनिए, क्रोध पाप की जड़ है।'

Lakshmana laughed and said, 'Listen, sage: anger is the root of sin.'

'जिसके वश में होकर लोग अनुचित कार्य करते हैं और संसार के प्रतिकूल आचरण करते हैं।'

'Under its sway, people do wrong and act against the world.'
