हे विश्वामित्र, यह उलटे उत्तर दे रहा है, फिर भी केवल आपके शील के कारण मैं इसे बिना मारे छोड़ रहा हूँ।

Vishvamitra, though he talks back, I am letting him go without killing him solely out of regard for your noble character.

नहीं तो इसे कठोर फरसे से काटकर थोड़े ही श्रम में गुरु के ऋण से मुक्त हो जाता।

Otherwise, by cutting him down with the hard axe, I would have discharged my debt to my guru with little effort.

गाधि के पुत्र विश्वामित्र मन में हँसकर कहते हैं: मुनि को सब हरा-ही-हरा, अर्थात अनुकूल और आसान, सूझ रहा है।

Gadhi’s son Vishvamitra says, laughing inwardly: “The sage sees only green everywhere—he thinks everything is favorable and easy.”

यह लोहे का खाँड है, गन्ने का नहीं; यह नासमझ अभी भी नहीं समझता।

This is a lump made of iron, not of sugarcane; the uncomprehending sage still does not understand.
